ok the cd/rw should not need a driver as they are plug and play and the OS uses the generic drivers it has to use the cd/rw. have you got the software you need to burn (copy) onto discs like Nero or easy cd creator? also what OS are you using i.e windows 98 or windows XP.

also when you bought the cd/rw it should of came with its own software, not to mind it is very cheap these days and you can downlaod the software free for trial.

Never a *Blonde* day

xp has built in burning software, easiest way to use, drop in a blank cd, if a pop up does not come up and offer you a choice of what to do, like open a writable cd folder, go to my computer, double click the cdrw drive, you should now have a explorer window, drag the files you want on the disk and drop them on the window, when ready to write the disk, click the link in the upper left hand corner that says write these files to cd. to burn music open media player and create the play list you want on the cd, when the order of the songs, and all is the way you want it select the copy to cd or device tab, then copy music(red button) top right.

this could be cause by many things, 1 the ribbon cable makes a difference, if you added the drive to a existing cable that had a pio, or older ultra drive, it may not detect the drive correctly. if the drive came in a pc that was bought new, contact the manufacturer if it is still in warranty. if not look up your computer makers web site, then your model number, look for firmware updates, bios updates that address this issue, can also check the phillips site. i bought a phillips2400 about a year ago, actually two identical, 1 i used the other in my dads machine. they never worked right, wouldn't read some disk, some they made they wouldn't read, some files they burned were unusable, had phillips replace mine, same trouble, my replacement quit 1 week out of warranty. my dads still works, badly, but i bought a samsung and love it. someone bought a magic spin drive, i installed it, the only way it would burn was from the nero software that came with it. still works fine, but upgrades to newer versions of nero have not been successful.
