Newbies

Since particular threads demand more time and understanding, perhaps there is room for a section for people who have little or no clue as to what is needed, RE: sorting their computer issues?

Hard to quantify a "newb" i know, and there is oportunity for abuse, but some do at least understand the basics of installing drivers etc, while others are completely lost.

Or maybe they could prefix their post with [new] or something.

Just a thought.

I don't think people will select the newbie option.

If its made compulsory to select before posting, people won't like it.

No worries, but there's no suggestion of compulsion. It was just something to try.

The site software can help - if you are a new member then you "might" be a newbie - and when you sign-off your message it would help to become part of the group if you expanded on your level of experience.

Conversly, your level of experience could be coded ( for example if you actually work in IT, you would be coded as "regular system user" - (that's Advanced User).
But if you say you have just come to computing a few questions would separate those with zero knowledge and those who have more than "Beginner"

I presume the point of this is to remove posts that say "My PC won't work - help!"
