Word filter please

I just came across the word "fuck" on a post of this board. http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com...76-post64.html

Since there is no need for such terms here, and the boards reputation suffers accordingly, can i request the word filter be activated for certain words, and probably known bad sites should be included too?

Thanks.

Edited the post.

That word has been used 2 times in 2008, 4 times in 2007 and 2 times in 2006.

I feel letting the poster know is better than filter.

Its not possible for bad sites, list will keep growing everyday.

Come on Tool. How can individual warnings be more efficient than the filter? Prevention is better than cure.

It only needs known bad sites and the odd few that appear on here. It takes 30 seconds to implement a site block. Daily additions are not needed.

How come every suggestion that is raised for the good of the membership is squashed outright?
"feedback" forum is redundant.

World filter was previously enabled, but was removed for the above reason. No point running checks on every word of post when its only used couple of times. This doesn't mean its allowed to use those words in posts.

For bad sites - I would love bad sites filter so I don't have to check the forum for spam every 2-3 hours. But it is not possible because the Email / URL / IP changes everytime. Why do you think Yahoo / Hotmail / GMail are not able to stop spam emails?

Again, all suggestions are taken seriously. They may be used in future.

It's ok for several hundred visitors to see a possible slew of expletives, or pron references because it may not happen any time soon? I don't understand your logic.

Site filter would still require a regular patrol regardless. The oblect is to stop the known ones and do what you can before your members possibly fall prey to stuff you should be avoiding.

How do host files, spybot, web filters, proxies, and everything else else we use work then?

Not even the same thing, though Gmail does a nice job of filtering for me, and you can block all and every Hotmail spam if you just set up a whitelist. All unwanted mail is filtered out.
Yahoo doesn't get near me, so i can't comment on them. I see that den as the worst possible.

Right.
