pop ups
how come when i visit this site i get an advert for some kind of fish tank pop up thingy n how can i stop it.

Often same advert is repeated many times.
As long as you don't get more than 2 popup / 12 hours (even if its the same everyday) its normal.

Other forums I subscribe to manage without any pop-ups so why can't ST&T manage without them? It's very annoying. Just as well I don't use ST&T very much. I just logged in to it 3 minutes ago and was soon reminded why I stopped using it -- 3 pop-ups and one pop-under -- bah!

No website owner likes to use advertisements, but its required to pay the bills.
Limit is still the same - 2 / 12 hours. Almost always when people get more, its due to popup blocker causing conflict.
Regarding websites using only banners; owner might be using his personal money to pay the bills.
Websites also need to maintain money enough to sustain for next 6 to 12 months when advertisement rates drop by 40-60%! (like in the current economic depression).

think this forums the best and the odd pop up isnt really a big deal,like the tool said,it keeps the site running,i never get more than 2 and i can certainly live with that,there are some (sorry) a lot of great people willing to lend a helping hand here,thanks every one who has helped me out and if i can help i certainly will,take care yall.

I've been using google blocker and the built in IE blocker for years, I used to see them all the time, but not over the last few months, and I haven't changed a thing.
