Yet another question...

Alright, I recently posted some questions about graphics cards. Thanks to the help of this board, I was able to settle on a Abit Siluro Ti4400 card to replace my old GF4 MX 440 (which is actually more like a GF2, I learned in my research).

The Ti4400 is a vast improvement. I love it. I have since learned a little about overclocking and now have it cooking along a bit faster, but considerably below the stability threshhold.

I was curious what my bottleneck is now on my PC? what should I upgrade next? Memory, CPU, or Mobo?

Intel P4 @ 1.7GHz
80Gig WD HD @ 7200 rpm
Tyan i845 mobo
768 MB of DDR266
Ti-4400 graphics card

Is that proccessor the fastest the Mobo can support? If it isn't, I'd upgrade the Proccessor for added stability.

it dpeends what your using your system for.

if your going to game like (Dom3, FaryCry, HL2, CS:S)

i suggest at least 2.0 Ghz or higher.

suggested processor: AMD 64 thats my opinion but it really depends on your budget =)

a nice AMD 64 3000+ is only $149 bucks. Mobo can range from $40-$110 depending on brand name and features.

your memory seems decent from what i see.

Thanks.

From what I've read, the AMD processors are the go-to for gaming.

I assume of course that converting to AMD will require a new mobo. Any recommendations for a nice solid board that isn't too expensive?

Go to www.tigerdirect.com. They have plenty of Motherboards, and if building computer is a hobby of yours, you feel like a kid in a candy store.
