Splinter Cell GPF with win98SE

First off I hope you all had a nice xmas & better new year

SCRATCH THAT! I HOPE YOU PUKED ON HER PIE AND FRIED YOUR SAUSAGE IN HER MACROMOUTH!

Anyway can someone please help me. I bought this game just after christmas and everything runs fine until i actually start the game. As soon as the game starts there is a moving scene of a coloured gentleman entering an elevator however, at this point only the top and, bottom of the screen is visible because in the middle it is very bright and no graphics display there.

The sound runs fine. After the coloured man talks with sam fisher the game crashes to the desktop with "General Protection Fault" in a grey box. underneath that it says "history:" and nothing else except a close button,a copy button and, a submit button.

I have tried the FAQ on their website and it doesnt help at all. I have downloaded 3 patches and it doesnt help(i live in uk and their designed for north america).

My PC specifications:
Windows 98SE
AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+ Processor
512 Meg DDR Ram (133mhz)
80Gb hard drive
ATAPI CD-R/RW 6X4X32 CDROM
directx9.0(from splinter cell disk)
ASROCK Motherboard with 4 usb ports
Onboard 5.1 Surround Sound (C-MEDIA AC97 AUDIO)
OnBoard Graphics card -"SiS 661FX_760_741_M661FX_M760_M741" with 128 Meg Shared Ram (Shared from 512 total ram)

My desktop is true colour 32bit-resolution 800*600

Again i have searched through the FAQ and also on other websites.

I cant even get a refund because the shops policy on pc games does not allow it!
