You could try to set the compatibility mode to Windows 98. To do this, find the executable file for the game (I don't have the game so I don't know what it's called), and right click it. Goto properties. Then goto the 'Compatibility' tab. Check the box that says 'Run this program in compatibility mode'. Then choose Windows 98 from the drop-down menu. Apply it and press OK. Try that out. This built-in feature in Windows XP is pretty cool and works for a lot of problems like this. Hope to be of help.
