sound is not to important..well to me its not..creative audigy cards are good..depends what you want 5.1 speakers 7.1 speakers or my choice just 2 speakers..graphic card pci-e 16x ati or nvidia the choice is yours..my choice is nvidia..as i have never got any problems with the drivers..saying that..if you want to upgrade to vista in time..go for the nvidia 8 series graphic cards,,they support direct x 10..if you not worried about vista in the future for gaming,,go for the 6 series or 7 series cards..as most i think on the 7 series has SLI so you can run 2 cards in in the future ..it all boiles down to how much you want to spend,,if money no problem,,, go for the best. check out creative website for pci audigy cards and nvidia site for there graphics cards. also i like to add motherboards have 4 channel ,,and sometime 6 channel onboard audio ..so you can if you want just use onboard,, its just as good for gaming.
