Exclamation nedd help with BF42! slow to load!

hey dudes,
I've been having this prob for some time now. Whenever I start
BF42 it starts up at the EA and DIce logo screens taking a VERY long time to get passed them. Once you are at the menu screen and loading a map, the game runs fine, BUT when Im playing online and the server changes the map, once again it takes a TREMENDOUS amount of time to load, so i get sick of it and close it. This problem also occurs with the GC mod, but a lot worse.
I deleted the profiles, scanned for viruses and cleaned spyware, tried running BF without Norton Internet Security and none of those help. One thing I did find weird though is that if you go to the EAsy (Electronic Arts System Information) info program it is telling me that my CPU speed is WAY below 500 MHz, it tells me: Minimun - 500 MHz Your System - -2137 Mhz and it has a red mark next to it indicating is not good enough. WTF??? How can a processor have a negative speed???
I don't think it likes AMDs much,
Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon XP 3000
1 GB Ram
160 GB HD
GeForce 5500 FX 256 MB

It is a brand new computer.
Can somebody plese help me out here?? I'd love a response

Well from what you have in your pc, you should have no problems. I think it is a problem with your graphics card. The requirements for BF2 for graphics card are FX 5700 or greater. Your pc doesn't meet the requirments. To check out the list go to http://www.eagames.com/official/batt...s/features.jsp

Sorry about your game issues. I hope you can sovle it without having to spend any money. Please let me know if this helps.

Sounds like it could be the mod you are running.

To remove the EA and Dice logo screens from start up go to:

C: > programme files > EA Games > BF 1942 > Mods > BF1942 > Movies ...... and delete EA.bik, Dice.bik, (intro.bik?)

The only .bik file I have there is background.bik

That should speed up your load times a bit.
(The same works for BF2 as well: Menu.bik and Menuloggedin.bik are the only two I have there)

The fact that BF2 runs fine and BF1942 has probs leads me to believe the it may be mod related (what is GC mod btw? - I play Forgotten Hope 0.7 and Desert Combat mods)

I suggest a clean install of BF1942 and actually going into programme files and manually removing the BF1942 folder to ensure there are no left overs.

good luck
