running games straight from disc

Is there any way that i can run a game straight from a CD-rom w/out installing it onto a computer? And is there a way, that if i drag all of a game demo onto a blank CDR, finish it, would i be able to play the game straight from the cd? My friend can do it, he just didn't tell me how.

As in taking an EXE of a game demo and putting it on a CD? Nope. It would take the exe and install to your hard drive anyway.

Some games, such as UT99, allow you to do a minimal install to the hard drive (100MB) but make you have the CD inserted to play, though with it you can also just install it all to the hard drive. (600MB).
