Computer crashes pissing me off
I have just purchased a new pc. It's an Is7-e2 ABIT motherboard, with two 512mb ram sticks, ones a kingston, one was standard, An ATI Sapphire 512mb AGP8x Video card, and a P4 3.2ghz with hyperthreading tech, and two hard drives and one dvd burner installed on Windows XP Service Pack.
The Problem is that when im playing farcry, I've only gotten like 20-30 mins into it, the computer crashes. If that wasn't annoying enough it crashes at random sometimes, especially when im running a couple programs at a time, one usually high-end.
But now, worst of all, after two attempts to install Command and Conquer generals during installation, before i can even set it up, the computer will shut down. I have two memory dumps available if that would help.
I really don't know what to do... My CPU is running at 70-80degrees faranheit according to my bios. My bios is apparantly new and up to date, windows xp is updated, my ati drivers are updated running the latest version of catalyst.
Someone please help. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

It's your cpu, it is way too hot, it shouldn't go above 50C really, it needs to be checked to ensure the heatsink is properly seated, also you may need to address your case cooling, if it is new take it back to the vendor and tell them to fix it.

70 to 80 FARANHEIT is not too hot.
Sounds like a ram problem to me. Check your ram with memtest or take a stick out to try and isolate a bad stick.
What psu do you have? Could very well be a power supply problem as well.
Btw, Abit is a great choice for motherboard.

actually... i ran a test...
Motherboard 28 °C (82 °F)
CPU 58 °C (136 °F)
PWM 56 °C (133 °F)
Maxtor 6Y160M0 57 °C (135 °F)
Maxtor 4R080L0 56 °C (133 °F)
I took the side panel off to give it some air... is this too hot it appears so.

Your motherboard is running quite cool and your cpu is ok.
Were those hard drive temps at idle? They shouldn't get that hot unless they are under lots of load.
If you have not added extra fans yet be sure to do so. One blowing out the back(under the psu) and one blowing in from the front of the case will do wonders. Fans are cheap and effective. You can also enlarge vents or add more vents. Running with the side off will help for the time being. If the hard drives are mounted in neighbouring bays, move one of them to another bay if you have a spare. The upper hard drive gets cooked otherwise.
I would try to get those temps down if you want to get good life out of that hardware.

wtf. I'm here for computer help. not a scam... if it weren't a scam send me your home address so i can mail you a check... also register with the better business bureau. Video game companies do not send copies of their games to random before release, unless they're looking to get copied. and one more thing... why would i pay someone before i worked.. that's like paying to take an interview. please go away.
