Simple Final Alert 2 question

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I just tried out Final Alert 2 (the map editor for C&C: Red Alert 2) and I had a question.

If I create military buildings already in the map editor, for instance Barracks or War Factory, change the owner to America and then start playing the map in Skirmish as America, the buildings aren't there anymore when the map loads.

So, my question is how can I create military buildings that are under my control when I start playing?
