Exclamation Command and Conquer Generals Error? Some one care to help?

So now, I'm pretty much disappointed in how things are going through right now.

I had Command and Conquer Generals before and I used to play it. Bug issues from the game are what forced me to remove it. To make things worse, my PC got infected with several malware/spyware that sneaked their way inside my C&C Generals App. I did a full scan using Spy Bot Search & Destroy alongside with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.

I then attempted to re-download a CLEAN one. However, upon loading the classic C&C Splash Screen(the loading page that appears before the game turns into a full screen app), another windows appears and displays this:

"Sorry, a serious error occurred".

After which the application exits, and this happens every time I boot up the game.

Can someone help me out?

I do not know what happened since that it was working before.

I do weekly maintenance using Auslogics Boost Speed 5 and Systweak's Advanced System Optimizer 3 .

System specs:
Microsoft Windows XP SP3
Intel Pentium IV CPU 2.00 GHZ
256 RAM
Radeon 7000 / Radeon VE Family(Microsoft Corporation)

Any efforts to answer my question will be much, much, much appreciated!!

by download, is this as in a paid download such as a steam purchase or is it a torrent/free download of sorts?
Make noodles, not war.
