Smile Jedi Outcast

Anyone play this game? Some people that got the patch said it ruined the game...I disagree. anyone have an opinion on this?

Also, I am on multiple boot between XP and 98se. Jo seems to run slower and worse when running on 98se compared to XP. why is that? does XP handle/maintain RAM or CPU better? hmm...

I figured JO would run better on 98se because XP uses more System resources..i was wrong. heh.

((Are Sigpics used yet?))

Hey dude I played this game. Im a vet at Dark forces, and the old jedi game and sith game. It was tight, actually having force powers. Infact Im huge star wars fan!

ROCK ON STAR WARS

Anyways hope i havent posted too late and maybe your still interested. Anyways... Yeah I like Jedi Outcast, at least what i played.

Its cool it uses a new engine but similar dark forces principles from the old titles. Actually I kind of hate the old games, cuz they just turned into mindless slaughter fest with an arsenal star wars technological mayhem..... which was cool at times. Anyways, since the Dark Forces 2 release we now get what we've all wanted..... THE LIGHTSABER. So we can cut off troopers arms and hear them scream as their own blaster fire is deflected back into their own chests. As the white storm trooper's searing black holed chest sizzles, a slight smile creases my jedi face, and I know at my heart, if i was given the choice, Id have to be dark side, i would be consumed no doubt. Thats why I torment storm troopers and innocent civilians. BOW TO ME, "your powers are we old man".... "dont make me destroy you as obi wan did"Anyways what does the new patch do anyways?

To be fair, Jedi Knight (dark forces 2) had a lightsaber, but was just not implemented very well.

However, this has been addressed very well in JO, though I know many people disagree. There is even a mod out called Pro-Mod, which changes the resolution of Lightsaber combat from random numbers to skill on the players side. Some people dont like this, though I have to say I favour it very muchly.

I think what a lot of people tend to forget is that StarWars, be it a film or a book or a computer game is there to be enjoyed, and the viewer will make what they can of it. Sure I have problems with JO, there are several things I would change, but I still play it, because at the end of the day it is an enjoyable experience. And it is not very often you get to run around with a big fat lightsabre, cartwheeling over opponents and trying to attack them from behind.

Jedi Outcast should be treated as what it is meant to be. A bit of fun.

There are now two patches released for Jedi Outcast.

Patch 1.03:
-----------------
Additions:

Multiplayer:
-Comes with 4 new dueling levels that support Bots. The levels:
Duel_Bespin, Duel_Temple, Duel_Hangar, and Duel_Training.

Singleplayer:
-Provide Force feedback mouse support (I'm not sure what this is!)
-Provide limited Force Feedback support for joysticks (This either!)

Corrects:
-------------------------------------------
Multiplayer:
-----------
* Corrects an issue where players were unable to cycle to detonator packs and trip mines on the “explosives” key unless they also had Thermal Detonators.
* Corrects an issue that prevented launching a multiplayer game on AMD(TM) dual processor machines.
* Corrected an exploit to prevent players from using illegal models in the game.
* Corrected an exploit that allowed players to have force powers outside of what the server rules allow.
* Added a keyboard icon that appears over the player's head when the player is chatting or configuring force powers.
* Backflip now requires that you double tap the jump button.
* Lightsaber usage in multiplayer has been modified to work similarly to the way it works in single player levels. This will enable better saber battles up close with your opponent.
* Lightsabers will do less damage at the very start and very end of a swing. This should prevent kills from just touching an opponent with the tip of your lightsaber.
* Other players will not see the glow from a player using force absorb until they are attacked.
* Force Heal and Force Drain have been adjusted to require more force energy to use them.
* Corrected an issue that prevent lightsaber locking from occurring in duels even if it was enabled by the server.
* Correct various Duel mode issues, including:

* Reconfiguring force powers will not place your player at bottom of queue.
* If one player leaves during a match when dueling with more than 1 kill limit, the next person in line will not enter the match with the score of the person who left the match.
* Changing skins will no longer produce a loss score on HUD that includes fraglimit

Single Player:
-------------
* Corrected an issue that would cause the third AT-ST on Artus_Topside to disappear that prevented Jan from landing.
* Corrected an issue that caused enemies not to be alerted by the body of a comrade in their field of vision.
* Corrected an issue where enemies did not try to avoid thermal detonators that were thrown at them.
* Corrected an issue that would cause the player to be unable to attack for about thirty seconds if they were force pushed out of a saberlock.

----------------------------------------------------------------

That is the 1.03 patch, and everything it changes. I will post 1.04 in the next Reply

This fixed some things in the game that I am, and am not happy about... here is official corrections:

Corrects various multiplayer gameplay issues, including:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Corrected issue which caused servers to crash in rare instances.

Corrected issue causing damage not to ramp up and down properly when using the backstab move in light saber stance.

Corrected bug allowing players to pivot while executing backstab moves in all stances. Players may no longer pivot when executing these moves.

Fixed bug causing force pull to be unblockable by people with equal or greater pull rank.

Adjusted ammo usage of the Imperial repeater alt-fire.

Fixed bug allowing inventory items to be used in FFA saber challenges.

Corrected an exploit which allowed players to fall from large heights at a slow rate.

Corrected issue which caused pain sounds not to play properly when hit by opponents. Pain sounds should now be relative to the amount of damage taken.

I miss the exploit where we can fall at a slower rate (gliding) but other than that, it plays fine. Especially with JediMod 1.2! (or 3.1)

Ever use Gamespy? I hear that's a good finder app as well, and it's free. Isn't MSN Gaming Zone a pay service?

MSN Gaming zone is free.

Now, I use The All-seeing Eye.

It is a desktop app that will scan JK2 servers. You can add up to 4 buddies and x favorites in the free version. It is unlimited int he registered version -- and if you are registered, you get your scans faster than those on free version.

I'm usually in DKS server now.

who said anything about Gamespy? I didn't download anything from gamespy. choose your sources carefully....

and it's not ASE that corrupted your hard drive, because I downloaded it from ASE's official server.

Aah, My mistake. I haven't posted here in months, so I can't tell what's been going on, and i didn't bother to check.

I thought by saying you were a fan of ASE, you intended sarcasm. I stand corrected.
