Post Computer Has Stopped Yahoo Games

I am needing help. I came here to this website first, through a search engine, when I read an error on my computer saying "data1.dat" not found. The solution I got from here, was to install adaware, and was told that would no longer happen.
The REASON I came was this: I play the Yahoo Games, and a along time ago, something happened to the applet that ran by Microsoft in my Windows, preventing Yahoo Games... just overnight. I was sent to, and now have Sun Java, which did fine.
Well this now acted the same, so the 1st thing I did, was try to "repair" my Java applet. That did nothing. Next, I took it completely out. and re-added it again... nothing.
So the 3rd step was from here, and I did the adware.
Now the data1.dat error message IS NOT gone, the adware did not that, and still the games won't work at all.
When I go to the games, I get the screen, just as when the applet was bad the very first time, I saw the game screen white.
I watch the bottom of the Internet Explorer Browser and can see it trying to load... but all I get at the bottom is "Done" and nothing has happened.
I need at this time, for e-mails to be sent to me, it is difficult for me to come back here even to check for answers: I have seizures, and can not do much on internet right now.
My e-mail is: actsnobleapril@yahoo.com OR come into my Messenger there in Yahoo (Same Name). I AM there at all times my comp is on, but am Invisible due to my health right now.
So, no games work. Applet tries, but all I see is "Done", and a white screen. This IS what happened before, when Applet was the problem. Could it be adware is needed for the games>? What can it be? And even letting me know of other places that can help, I am grateful for all help in any way. Anything at all. I am so glad I found this website. I have a Millenium , with Pentium 3.
What else could it be ? Please e-mail me, as well as post here for now, (who knows if this may just be a problem for someone else, too)... Need the e-mails until my health gets better. (Working on this comp is what is bringing my health further down.) I hope to fix it, than get a nice rest. Until it is fixed, I am constantly hurting myself here trying everything I can think of. This makes my 4th day of it. I will post the moment any info I am given works, and which it was.
I am so tired. And feel unable to rest until this is solved. Thanks in advance for your help and input and e-mails or Yahoo Messages. ~April in Houston, Texas~

Thumbs up Answers beyond your wildest dreams ...

Amazingly, IneRtia dRaft, I had tried the settings in the Internet Explorer also. (Forgot to mention that as well earlier.)
Finally... I had to call by phone "a computer helpline". With seizures worse with reading much on the internet, they gave me some help I wish to post here to help all that it can.
I had tried to reach them via their website? And a java applet was needed to connect there, so I was seeing more than my Games affected in all of this.
(Oh, write the websites down, and memorize this... They said they are hearing of more and more of the same lately.)
First they asked me all I had done recently. New downloads and Installations, etc...
In shame, I admit, I had Kazaa already ON my computer, thought nothing of going there and using the kazaa...(I did not have to download it, see) but.... after I was asked... did see that the problems began right after I turned "off" the kazaa again.

They helped me go into "Start", then "run", type in "msconfig", look into that box in the "startup" tab.
(I had already been in there, and unchecked the kazaa, so I knew how to do that operation myself and had done so.)
They went down the entire Startup List I had showing.
There was some spyware there, several checked, new ones I did not notice before... and once unchecked? All worked perfectly normal again.

*Another thing I was told that could be done is in that "run" box,
type in below... Notice the SPACE between scanreg and the /

scanreg /restore

Best try to chose the last date available there, not the earliest. Works as a "go back"... or a "system restore" (because neither of those on my comp worked at all.)
I went back to the day before I touched the kazaa that was the culprit this time... with all that adware that began my malfunctions. That was a 2nd way to make sure I completely got everything.

ALSO this is what to take down:
www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php
There you can type all things from inside your startup by running
"msconfig" from the tun box in "Start" and SEE for YOURSELF if there is ANYthing in there, called spyware, or even a virus, bug, etc.
That place tells you what everything in your Startup is.
You just type in what you have showing in yours.
(So much of mine? A lot of adware that was "running' in the background.)
A great bonus too? My comp now is so much faster. (blushes)

Final tip: Run an anti-virus also, I was told. Potentially damaging things that were in that startup, can cause the problems I was having.
For free virus scan and removal to help there:
www.sarc.com

After all the above, unchecking things in the Startup Box,
Scanning with Anti-Virus...
Time to go into safe mode, do the Disk Cleanup, thorough Scan Disk, and Defrag.
I have found my answers, AND so much help for and from others here.
I have used all I have listed here in my notes. It worked well.
I have written this all down for my use in the future, and will be helping those who communicate with me by their computers with what I learn as well.
Do not wish potential viruses to be spread if I have them for sure.
So another day is done..... and the problems I had are solved, and who knows, maybe I have shown you how to find out about your own startup files, and you may just be amazed at what you find for your own computer. I know what I had in there stopped my Java Applet from functioning.
And I am SO grateful for this wonderful website here, and to you, IneRtia dRaft, for being my first responder. Continue helping others!
