Nvidia Geforce 6800 ques

I ve noticed that for some reason nvidia seems to have 100s of different name brands like asus and exvga. Does this make them that much different? I've also noticed the thing about 1.5gl and 2.0 gl on the different name brand gfx cards. Is it upgradeble on the 1.5gl to make them into 2.0gl? and is the oc version that much better than the gt?

Buying a video card is a lot like buying a motherboard. There are all kinds of Mfgs. out there that use for example "Intel" chips when producing a mobo. The same can be said for a video card. Nividia them selves are not the ones mfg all those different cards you see, but rather the "key" components.

In order to really make any kind of evaluation on a Nividia card one must look to the mfg. of the card and research the quality of their products. I my self have a Nividia 5700 U3 card. If you looked that up on Google you'd find pages and pages of info on it, how ever it's relavance would be some what tainted. On the other hand if you looked up Albatron Nividia FX 5700 U3, you'd find very specific info including reviews and overclocking tips. from that one could research and make a reasonable assumption on what to expect.

Yeah thats what ive been doing except i found some odd differences like one said that it had a opengl 1.5 driver while another had a 2.0 driver. Would the 2.0 driver be better? or could i update the 1.5 driver so theres no difference? Right now im looking at a Asus Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT 128MB Opgengl 2.0 and a EVGA Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT 128MB Opengl 1.5. The reason i want a new graphic card is cause i want to play doom 3 and half life 2 on a better card. I currently have a Nvidia Geforce 3 Ti 200 which will work but has really low resolution =\

to tell you the truth. i would perfer the XFX cards for nvidia. they seem to be more OC'able and very nice design.

They dont even tell me the clock speed so far. And recently i have been looking more closely. I want the normal nvidia geforce 6800 BFG OC vs the Ati radeon 9800. Which one statistically is better and last longer.

hahaha.

The 9800 Pro won't even get close to the 6800 Ultra

it's like

Honda Civic vs Ferrari

Yeah I wish i could get that. I'm getting the normal version of the nvidia geforce 6800 from BFG OC at 350Mhz. But now ive heard that nvidia is making a new card for 64bit chips. Will there be a driver update to make the gfx compatible with the new 64bit chip or a totaly redesigned gpu?

still 9800 pro wont touch it.

6600 gt knocks the 9800 pro out already.
