Processor Upgrade for MPC Millenia Max???

I have a Micron Millinia Max 500 (circa 2000) PIII 800. Have made all other upgrades (video card, RAM, cd drives/burners, sound card). But I am now noticably limited by this old engine. Micron support said there was no upgrading the processor - true? Advice? Help?

It's not worth the time or effort to try and upgrade the CPU. Even if you can the additional Mhz gained will not justify the cost. Over and above that there's the chipset your motherboard has which will most definately be out dated at this point. My suggestion would be to "Buy" a copy of Windows 2000 if you don't already own one and bump up your Ram to the max your machine can handle. This way you'll end up with a fairly "snappy" machine, that will hold you over till you can invest in something a little more modern.

We have a local PC shop here that will take tradeins. You could get on the phone & see if anyone in your area will take tradeins. Then you could keep the components you have & get a new motherboard, processor, & ram.
May be an economical way to get a better puter.
