how can I tell if all the memory installed is working

I recently had to replace one of the memory modules on my Sony Vaio. I have two 256 and two 512. My computers shows it has 1.25gb installed

I am not sure how to figure on if the modules add up to what is shows as installed. Also how can you check to see if your memory is working properly?

Thanks

Jim

Thanks for the info. How do I know which module an error shows up on? Does it go 1,2,3,4? I did have some errors on the 4th test.

Thanks again

Jim
