Cool FAN FAILURE! help

help.....

the fan on my processor kept stalling, and constantly sounded like it was struggling and at approximately 2pm on the 6th I pronounced it dead!

Now what do I do? every fan I look at on the net, states it suitable with a specific type of processor - does this really matter? or will any work. I have got a hold of a JET 4(ICB-V83) coolermaster fan and heatsink, will this work? (i hope so coz it was an amazin deal) I have a pentium 4 3ghz processor and the website and manual state 'Intel Pentium 4 3.4 GHz and Higher'.

HELP ME, my laptop's inabilities r killin me!

Was your fan retail? Did it come with the heatsink?
What heatsink have you got and will it take a different fan?

The jet 4 looks like it will do the job. Have you got a socket 478 mobo?
It looks pretty impresive all made of copper. That should conduct the heat prety well!

However, it does sound a bit noisy especialy if you intend to overclock. I am not sure 3500rpm will be enough for overclocking.

Then again I am no big expert.....

If you intend to stay within the detailed specs then I do not think you can go wrong with an all copper heatsink like this one.

Good luck and keep it cool!

both heatsink and fan were retail, and the fan does come off the heatsink, so I rekon the heatsink can take otha fans.

Not unless the clip-on system is universal....

See if you can clip-on your 80mm case fan. that should give you an idea
