Talking 5.1 Sound Card with the same speakers?

can I use the same Speakers that I use on my 2.0 sound card on a 5.1 channels sound card?

if no, how is the speakers for a 5.1 sound card and where can I buy them?

being that i don't know a lot about sound cards, here's my only advice:
why don't you just test it and see. if you're satisfied with the results, don't buy new speakers. if you do decide to buy new ones because you think you could get a better sound from them, then i'm sure you could easily find some at any local electronics store. best buy usually has a good selection of audio peripherals.

Yes

Of course you can. However the whole point of 5.1 is to have a surround effect. so having 2.1 or 2.0 speakers only gives you stereo. i.e in front of you. if thats ok with you then great. If you want surround, its gonna cost you the price of new speakers.

You set the sound card options to stereo, and everything works as before.
You only need a 2.1 sound system plus a centre for 5.1. Use your original stereo speakers for the rears.
Or just use any speakers in the missing positions to see if the improvement is worth it before shelling out.
It depends on your budget.
