I always base my printer decisions on these things:
-Quality of Prints (ie dpi)
-Printing Time (Mainly in colour)
-Cartridge Cost (Because you have to buy them every few months which is why the cost of the printer never bothers me, it is a one off payment)
After matching these things up I take which ever one meets most of these requirements. Then obviously if there is a "tie" between two printers I choose the cheapest :P
