Acronym Madness

I'm getting ready to upgrade my Dell but I'am having trouble navigating this alphabet soup of letters and numbers to find what I can or cannot use.

I'd like to add:

1G Ram: I know it's ddr2 but which one do i use? pcXXXX?

300G harddrive: OK. I'm ATA, is it Serial ATA? What does that mean? What do I need to look for when I'm researching my purchase? Is that onboard RAID that I have or is it through a card?

High Speed Cables: Do they make a differnce? I'm going to be doing a lot Audio/Video/Graphix work and want this thing to SING!

I think all my drivers/bios are up to date but I'm not 100% sure.

Here's the Belarc 411...HAVE AT IT!
