LCD vs CRT Monitor

Hi guys,
Im looking into getting an LCD monitor. But the thing is im worried if it might not be as good as my crt. At the computer store there are lcd monitors with different millisecond times such as 12ms and some as low as 4ms. Does this timing matter or can i just go for the cheap 12ms lcd, noting that i am i gamer and would like a screen that alteast produces as good an image as my crt.

Lcds prices have dropped dramatically this past year.

Lcd response times have improved dramatically this past year making them acceptable for gamers.

Lcd use less power.

The best reason to buy Lcd is for the health of your EYES.

The reason i want lcd is because of the space, virtually no heat production, the advantage of using dvi which im guessing allows for a better image produced than crt. I just want to know if it will be fine with games and whats up with the millisecond times, are they important?

Response time is very important for game playing. Get the lcd with the fastest response time. 4 ms response time should be superb and I don't know of any lower than that.

Yer i saw them on display at the comp shop and they looked really good in terms of image quality, and the fastest they have is 4ms samsung which is the one i think i should get as opposed to the cheaper 12ms acer.

Anything 16ms and lower should be alright for game playing. But that is no guarantee. Best, make sure you can return it if it does not perform for you.
