64 bit graphics card?

ok i just ordered a brand new computer, im going to use it for gaming mostly. It has amd 4800 x2 processor with a nvidia geforce 6800 xt 256 mb 64 bit graphics card. Now after i order my computer, i told my friend about it and he says that i shouldnt have bought the 64 bit graphics card. He says that most things dont run on a 64 bit graphics card. im kinda worried. Is this true? and if so what programs wound be able to run on it, and will most games be able to run on.

You friend is partially right, If you install a 64 Bit OS then you will need to buy 64 Bit compatible games other wise all 64 bit hardware are backward compatible with 32 bit OS and Games and Applications.

Cheers

the 6800XT is not 64 bit, 64 bit is only usable when you have a 64 bit capable cpu(which you clearly have with that beastly processor) and Windows x64 edition
If you don't have Windows x64 then you will be running your desktop in 32bit which is currently better since it is harder to find drivers for 64 bit and most applications are still 32 bit by default

The 6800XT has a 256 bit memory bandwidth interface
