INbuilt sound in my motherboard

Hi
I have a ASUS P5GD1 Motherboard. I don't have a sound card because it has inbuilt 7.1 sound. I play loads of games like Battlefield 2 and GTA San Andreas, is the inbuilt sound good enough for gaming and listening to music? If not what sound card do you recommend for listening to music and playing games for excellent sound quality.

Thanks

You could buy an expensive sound card, but if you have crappy speakers it won't help much. I would suggest taking the money you want to use to buy a soundcard and buy some quality speakers instead.

Well, it's not really possible for me to answer that. What do you think? Are you happy with the sound of your games and music?

I also have some Altec Lansing 2.1's, and I'm happy with them. Of course I'd much rather have some klipsch 5.1's if I had $300 to spend on speakers.

As to headphones I'm not sure, having never used them.

If you can find the model for the speakers, you might check www.epinions.com to see what other people have said about them. Same with the headphones.

If you are going to buy new speakers, however, I would suggest that the subwoofer be in a wooden case and not plastic. Better bass from wooden cases, in my opinion.
