Analogueee or Digital?

I have just bought a new monitor which came with a standard analogue cable. Both the video card (DVI-I) and the monitor (DVI-D) can take a digital connection but a cable wasn't provided. Is it worth my while buying a DVI cable i.e is there a vast improvement on image quality on the monitor with digital?
The manual (from somewhere foreign) claims that if you do buy a DVI cable then first you connect the analogue cable then the digital cable to your video card i.e both an analogue and a digital cable. Surely this is incorrect - or is it?

Did youi know it didnt have the cable at the time of purchase?

If not, go back to the store and obtain it.

I was aware that only an analogue cable was provided. I have done further research and bought a new cable (expected today). I have ascertained that there should only be one connection i.e analogue or digital.
