1 gig ram

i went to a computer store today, and they are sellling 1 gig ram for $100 (canadien)
is it worth it?

That is about the average price these days. It varies slightly up or down depending on brand and or if it's on "special" (assuming you are talking about "value ram"). What brand was it?

well there's kingston, and hynix. since i have the 512 hynix ram, i guss i should go with the hynix 1 gig ram since i have hynix and it should be the same company.
but which company is better?

That's debatable. Both make good quality Ram. If you already have Hynix, then I would just buy another stick of the same. They don't necessarily have to be of the same brand but, matching stick "timings" can be a big plus.
