Looking for LCD monitor to cover all fronts

Hi guys,
I want to upgrade from my CRT to an LCD monitor. I want a 19 inch monitor that will give me good performance in games; videos (i.e. no noise) and office work (word processing etc). I have sifted through the internet to try and find the monitor I want but I can't seem to get a straightforward opinion. My budget is $400-$500AU and I want a monitor with a good response time of at least 8ms or 4ms preferably, but according to toms hardware the majority of LCDs monitors do not actually perform the milliseconds they specify (e.g. some 4ms clock up to 16ms-25ms when benchmarked) and hence the reason I haven’t just gone in to a pc shop and bought a monitor, I need some one to recommend me a good LCD that performs at the actual response time specified.

So to some up I'm looking for an LCD that:
-Performs well on all fronts
-Works at the response time it should (at least 8ms)
-is 19 inch
-is within a $400-$500 price range

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

$400-500 can get you a very nice LCD monitor.

try some brand from NEC. GREAT displays. You'll love it.
