Ethernet card?

My area just became available for DSL , trouble is Im not sure if I have a working ethernet card in my computer. After searching my system, , I did find files Ieee1394 NDIS and miniport call manager and SISNIC, according to my web search that is a file for SIS PCI ethernet adapter? I right click on the file it gives me the option to extract. I cant find what I know for sure is this item in the device manager. Im afraid to tinker with my computer last time I made a horrible mess.I have dial up and I would sure love to have DSL without getting myself in a huge mess, any help would be much appreciated

look at the back of your case and do you see a port that has a head wider than normal phone line? if so that's a ethernet card.

best way to test if your ethernet card is working or not is to plug the rj-45 cable from the modem to the pc and see if the green and orange like appears or not.

you won't need external drivers for a network card unless it's wireless. Windows XP installs it's own driver for wired network cards since almost all of them use the Realtek chipset regardless of what name is on the packaging.
