External Hard Drive Format

I purchased a Lacie External hard drive and used it on a Macintosh computer. I now use a Windows based computer and connected the external hard drive to it. The external hard drive is not listed in MY Computer. But when I go to the Disk Management, the drive is listed but not under any name. How can I format an external Hard drive that is not listed under the My Computer?

If the drive is listed, as you say, in the Disk Management console. You should be able to right-click it in there and select 'Format'.

The External Hard drive is not exactly listed in the top part of the Disk Management. But I can see the amount of hard drive space that is incorporated with the external hard drive on the bottom half of the Disk Management. But no where on My Computer is the external Hard drive is listed.

My guess is since the drive was originally used on a Mac, the partition that's currently on it is, not surprisingly, incompatible with Windows. So My Computer can't see it. It's not simply a case of re-formatting. I think the existing partition will have to be deleted first, then a new partition created and formatted.

Is there an option to 'Delete Partition' when you right-click the drive in Computer Management console? If not, I should re-post and let someone else more knowledgeable than me come up with a solution.
