Thumbs down Shame Shame HP! take HP advise with caution

I just got off the phone with HP after a 2hr support nightmare. I wanted to post my issue here, I think someone might find it interesting.

I am a PC tech with www.mypcteck.com I an A+, MCSE, and CNE with 20 years under my belt.

A customer walks in our store in tears. She has lost everything. I automaticaly assume it is a user issue.

The customer tells me how she had a network card problem. She went to www.HP.com to download the driver but could not find it. I take the computer and first recover all her "my documents" then I go to www.hp.com, a network driver for the integrated pavilion 701. Sure enough the driver is NOT there. I call HP, they instruct me to do a complete restore to recover the HP integrated network atapter driver. And they even tell me that no data or computer operations will change. The restore CD come up and even states that ALL DATA will be erased, I tell the Tech support person the message. OMG he tells me to ignore the message and all will be fine. I ask for a supervisor seing that this HP support guy will not help me. He refuses, after 20 min i get transfered.... to India... Yep.. no one to help me.

So this vote for "Jack ass of the tech support air ways" goes to Richard #14733 from California.

After a fast recovery of the custmoer data I installed a $10 network card and she is happy. The driver for the network card was never found..

HP is now sending all its calls to India.

Shame on you HP

Ouch....I can't believe they told you that ????? That's tech support 101....if you do restore from recovery CD you will loss EVERYTHING saved !!! I wouldn't have bother with HP if I couldn't find the driver......since NIC is so cheap. I guess you have a customer for life now.

Cheers
