Angry hardware

hi everybody
i have finished rebuilding a dell inspiron 5150 laptop.it started of great.done bios ,i then put in a window xp cd and then tried to start up laptop ,horror it did not start no lights no fan nothing please can anybody help

Hi Articstar,

Might work, might not.

Try this:

Remove the battery
Remove the mains and any cards, cables, anything, so the laptop is a standalone.

Hold in the On/off switch for around 20 seconds.

Plug in the mains only - Power up the machine.
This should then work for you.

Unhappy inspiron 5150

hi , i tried stripping it and dooing what you said but all i get is 2 lights flashing one on start side one on battery side and fan still dead

Hi, I think your power supply inside the unit has gone, or it could be a motherboard issue.

Have it checked out by a Pc store.

hi thanks for all your help,i only bought the motherboard a few weeks ago.i am sick as a parrot,all the parts are now in ebay.i suppose building 3 and getting 2 working perfect is not bad for an amature .once again thanks

Sorry it didnt sort it, I work in IT and when I have to book laptops in for repair, its usually the mobo that gets replaced.

hi ,i only bought this refurbished motherboard about a month ago,and it cost nearly £150.00 with postage therefor i cant afford to go down that road again unless it would only cost about £50

Hi,

Depending where you brought the motherboard, this should be covered under a manfacturers warranty, there fore should either be replaced, or repaired.
