Intel Graphics Memory

Hi my PC has a Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller with 64MB video memory. BTW i have 256mb system memory.

I want to upgrade my graphics memory to say 128MB or even 256MB.

I dont really know much about this chipset but does anyone know how i can upgrade my graphics memory.

My PC has a free AGP slot so maybe i need to buy an addon card.

Could anyone help me find out how to upgrade my graphics memory. In the BIOS it says 'graphics aparature' and has 64MB as it's option. I can change this to 128 and 256. I was wondering could i just upgrade my system memory to 1GB and then change this 128mb. Would that increase the graphics memory.

Hey David,

you do either....Buy a new card or add system memory to your PC and share the memory with video ship....but what you can't do is use both video card (Internal and On-Board) at the same time.

Thanks i'll think i'll buy a card because my chipset doesn't support pixel shading.

Quick question: How would i tell the computer to use the card and not the on-board? Would i have to disable it somehow?

Usually Mother board are smart enough to disable the on board video as soon as they detect another video card but if you want to avoid any complication just in case, you could disable the on board video in BIOS.
