BT Home Hub

I've had BT Broadband for about 2 - 3 months now and have no complains. I do however have a query with the wireless part of the hub. seen as i never and will never use the wireless part of it, i was wondering how to turn it off.

when i log into the router it doesn't give me an option to switch it off. I haven't set the wireless up and yet the light on the hub says its on and occationaly it flashes as to say that there is activity.

if anyone could help, i would be greatful.

what model of BT Broadband is it ??? I don't have this modem myself, so I need the model number so I could look it up

it doesn't have a model number its just called 'BT Home Hub'. If you goto
http://www.bt.com/broadband/ - and goto option 3 that is the package i have.

I downloaded the user guide and read through it......you should download it too:

You need to launch Hub Manager and manage the hub setting of launch IE and type in "bthomehub.home" using admin for user name and password....you could manage the HUB.....there are setting in Hub Manager for wireless connectivity (on page 21 of the user guide).

Can anyone help!
I have a problem accessing my Home Hub from my desktop PC.
When I enter "bthomehub.home" in Internet Explorer, it sends me to various search sites and not the Homehub.
I have teh same thing if I install the BT software.
I can access the hub fine via my laptop no problem, so it must be an IE issue but has anyone else come across this?

Hi Robo-robbie,

Instead of typing "bthomehub.home" in the browser address bar, you could simply put the IP address of the router / hub and it will go the same place......I don't want to go into to detail of how browser identifies the "bthomehub.home"....so go to command prompt and type in "ipconfig" the third line (identified by the name "default Gateway") would the IP address of your hub.

BT Home Hub doesnt support IE7... I have had the same problem and had to access it via my laptop which had IE6

I have the same Bt Homehub, I do not have wireless, connect through lan but the wireless is light is on, it looks like it is normal.

I have just installed my new BT Homehub.
I have 2 desktops and a network printer to run off the network, so I have added a Linksys switch to the Ethernet port on the hub. The 2 desktops run fine off the switch, but the printer Epson 5900 which is a network printer, does not get assigned an address.
Can anyone help to tell how can I configure the hub to include the printer ?

Hey Alan,

How sure are you that the printer does not get an IP address ?? How did you determine that.
Question, is that a new printer / and new network interface in the printer ? Reason I'm asking that is because, if you have purchased it as used product.....it could have a fix IP address (fix IP address are added to the print server to make sure end users don't have to change the IP mapping to the printer)........Let me know and we can fix this.

One more question....Did this printer come with any king of software..I'm not talking about the driver or soft manual !!

I have a friend who users a BT Broadband Hub. Ever since a recent lightning storm it refuses to use a wireless connection and instead defaults to dial-up. To compound the issue, it refuses to hang-up after use unless it is physically disconnected from the socket. BT have quoted over £70 for an engineer to visit even though it is only 3 months into the contract. Anyone sufffered a similar fate or have a cheaper solution. Personally, I think she ought to tell them to shove it !!!

I have just bought a BT Home Hub of eBay for about £29. A bit cheaper that the £70 call out charged by BT.

Hi I am new here so if anybody can help that would be great.
I work from home but sometimes need to log on to a computer via a browser and for security it will only accept a log on from an incomming IP address of 10.xxx.xxx.xxx, can I edit my Home Hub to give me a static 10.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address, Many thanks

I think the only way you can get a static IP is to request one off BT witch costs about £5 extra a month.

With that I don't think that they can even guarentee you an IP beginning with 10.xxx.xxx.xxx.
