Flash memory as Static RAM?

I'm using Windows XP Pro. Ed. and I run it on a machine that has a 1.2GHz Intel Celeron Processor, with a 40 GB Hard drive and crucially, only 256MB RAM.

I've seen Ubuntu's [or Linux's] Persistence technology, I was wondering if there's anyway I can improve my performance on this old PC that I'm attached to by using some USB Flash Drive as additional RAM?

I'd like it very much if someone could tell me if a) this is possible, b) how I can do it.

Thanks in advance!

USB Flash drive in a way acts as hard drive not RAM (Random Access Memory)...perhaps the link below explains it better for you:
