Talking NEW COMPUTER yay!!!

i am looking into getting a brand new computer because mine is almost older than me (jk), but i have a few requirements for it and i need some help.
first, it has to come built i dont have the attention span or time to spend building and troubleshooting a computer from scratch (nor the experience/qualifiquati0ons)
second, my budget is in the mid to upper $2k
third, definetly amd dual core and nvidia sli cause im really into movies and games.
fourth, and heres the kicker i want it to look sweet for like LAN parties but im going to college in a year and a half and i dont want to have to worry about theft (that rules out wireless keyboard and mouse).
lastly i need tons of memory cause i already have over 60gb of music.video on itunes (yes its unfortunate i kno) plus i am probably going to major/minor in archaeology and cineatography so i kno ill need the space for cinematography (plus i want to put all my dvd on the comp).

P.S. my budget could rise above 3k but no more and if any suggestions for a nice good, cheap midsize screen id like that

thanks

Good for you! That will fix your "choppy video" problem. Are you sure you can't handle building your own? Check this out:

http://pages.suddenlink.net/sredwudz/index.htm

You can get a helluva lot more for your money that way, and it's not difficult. I just built one for my wife, whose computer needs are not great, for $200. I re-used a few extra optical drives and IDE hard drives laying around, and a pair of (obsolescent) 184-pin DDR modules, total 1 GB RAM. Plus an unused CRT monitor, speakers, AGP video card, and printer. Great way to re-use stuff. Loaded Win2K Pro on it, might as well get some more use out of that as well, since this box is running XP Pro.

Unless you're into gaming big-time (which means more memory and high-end video card, among other things), the main considerations are matching the mobo with the chip, and putting in an adequate power supply.

My wife likes the side window and blue LED fans, heh. I tested it with some video encoders (video is my hobby) and it's not bad at all. Better than realtime MPEG2 encoding with Cinema Craft Encoder, 2-pass, variable bitrate. Not a cutting-edge machine, but perfectly adequate, I'd have no problem using it myself as my primary computer.

Now, your requirements are different, obviously, but again, you could build quite a respectable computer for a thousand or so, even assuming you can't re-use anything.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you get. Can't help you with any recommendations for a pre-built comp, bleh.
