Right, I've narrowed it down to these two. Not much price difference in the UK (about £3) so which do you think is better?

Any ideas on the RAM I should go for?

i go for thermaltake myself. well know company and good reviews on that psu...ram go for DDR2 533/667/800 or faster,, its your choice see what your motherboard can take,, check if it can take dual memory modules. there is DDR3 memory that runs at 1333mhz but make sure your mobo can take.

My mobo can take DDR2 1066 but that's because the mobo is overclocked. I think! It's the ASUS P5K Deluxe.

I think I'm going to go for DDR2 800Mhz. It's cheap and gives me the option, of buying another 2GB set in a couple of months after building! The choice for the RAM is:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227231

My preference is for the first set as the timings are at 4-4-3-5 whereas the OCZ is 4-3-3-15 (there's a special edition). The OCZ is £10 ($20) cheaper and so wonder if the difference in timings is worth it?

Yeah, just read up about the motherboard, it says the memory speed has been tuned up by ASUS to 1066 from 800. Can't I just buy 800 and overclock it myself? Is that a better option than buying 1066?

Right, hopefully, this'll be the last thing I ask for advice on, before I post my list of part I'm going to buy...

How long do you think this graphics card will keep up with the gaming requirements of DX10 and beyond?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150171

Is it worth me buying this one, and possibly SLi ing it at a later date, or should I buy a cheap one, and save for a bigger, better memory model?

well its a monster of a heat sink and it can get hot,, but you can always put a 120 mm fan inside the case directed onto the card for extra cooling i no is has a built in fan so extra fan will help cool the massive heatsink and also it should handle any game thats direct x10 compatible and beyond i would guess. i cant see developement of directX11 apps for years to come .

Excellent! That's always good news! I'm selling my old computer, hopefully, for £100 more than I expected, so like any normal person would, I'm gonna spend it on my new computer! I said I was going to add £300 to whatever I get for it so it's looking promising! I think I'll go for the upgraded verison of the graphics card with the 640Mb and upgrade the RAM so I have 4x1GB! Should be sweet!

Right, I'm back again with the original question I asked. Should I go for the E6850 or the Q6600? Can I overclock the Q6600 so that it is effectively the same as the E6850? Will I be able to increase the FSB to make it 1333?

For anyone out there who is bothered by this, you should look at:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...uad-q6600.html
This makes it very clear that the Q6600 is the best way forward for, well, everything!
