PSU Query

I have an HP Pavillion pc which has a Radeon XPress 200 video card (integrated). The PSU is a Bestec ATX-300-12z which I believe will have to be replaced if I upgrade the video card.
I understand the Thermaltake w0009 (420w) is a direct replacement for the Bestec, but I have only found 1 offered and the postage from USA to France is $38 which is rather steep.
Can anyone advise on another replacement for the Bestec?

HP Pavillion a1325
1.5 g Ram
AMD Athlon 3200+
200g HD

what video card you buying. you have a pci express 16 slot on that board if your not a heavey gamer you can put in a nvidia 6600 without changing your psu. i no someone thats got the same pc as you and he put a 6600 GT in his pc and there was no problem at all with the psu power,,that psu you have has 19 or 20 amp on 12v. see my specs what i am running on a 350 watt psu. and my system is a hp w5251uk which has been upgraded. might add though i dont play games on it..i use ps2 slim silver for gaming.

also you motherboard can take a amd 64 x2 dual core socket 939 up to 4800 ,,they use cool n quite techology. makes the pc super quiet. then your have to upgrade your psu to a 450 + watts. also why are you buying from usa,,can you not buy where you are or maybe get from uk..it will be cheaper.

Hi Generator - thanks for the speedy replies. I am not a gamer so will look at the nvidia 6600 which you suggested. The reason I looked at USA is that here (rural France) there are few if any shops selling such items. I would have to go to one of the large cities for such a thing as a PSU.

Stop Press: I've just been told there is an English run computer shop near Eymet which is about 35 miles away. Might be worth a phone call or visit.

Hi, seeing as the thread is already here I thought I'd post on it! Will this PSU be able to handle a Q6600 overclocked to roughly 3.2GHz, 8800GTS, 10000rpm HDD, CD/DVD Drive, Scythe Infinity Cooler with additional 190CFM Fan, 2GB RAM, memory cooler, Thermaltake Shark case. I will upgrade the RAM and add another DVD drive when I can afford it!

Hi generator
Got a 6600 but am having problems in that although the fan runs, I get no video output. I've changed the BIOS setting for the Video to PCI-E (only 3 settings available - PCI/PCI-E/Onboard) but makes no difference.
The card is a CLUB 6600 and has a 13 pin (?) connector on the top. No info in the e-manual which only refers to AGP cards. Any ideas?

make sure you disable onboard graphics in the bios..then uninstall club drivers,, reinstall them. also newer graphic cards come with a lead to plug to one of the molex on psu,, it saves using the motherboards power..check what lead came with it..

psu has plenty of power for your spec.
