Exclamation What CPU should I buy?

Hey,
Currently I own a Amd Athlon 64 3200+ CPU and was thinking about upgrading to a Amd 64 x2 4200+ CPU. I have three questions is this a good upgrade? Will it mean twice as fast speed? Will it work on a asus a8n-sli se motherboard (socket 939)

Thanks

yes it would be worth the upgrade,,your mobo can take a athlon 64 x2 4800 cpu 939 socket..thats the highest they went on 939 sockets,,then they went to 5000 am2 sockets. i use to have a amd x2 64 4200 and there fast..ugrading to a dual core is your best bet. check out the 939 4800 x2 64 your find them really cheap now. also there cache size is bigger. they use 1 mb cache each core,,the x2 64 4200 has 512kb cache per core. just make sure your psu is 400 watt or over. if your getting a x2 64 4800 cpu. the 4800 x2 939 are getting rare now there hard to find...you can get on ebay and some online stores ,,so have alook around.

Waste of time. The difference in performance is not worth the price.

i disagree..xp 3200 going to a xp 4800 dual core with 1mb cache on each core..thats if he got the 4800 if not the x2 4200 will out perform a 3200 single core. also the x2 4200 and 4800 has cool and quiet technology built on the chip..he,s going to notice less noise and less heat..i running a x2 6000 amd and i can just about hear the cpu fan running
its that quiet. much better than the single core cpus that have fans running at 2500+ rpm,, and sounding like a jet engine..i think the extra to pay is worth it,, for quietness and more speed plus multitasking apps.
