ram and new video card

My computer has 2 banks of 2 ram slots. Right now there are 2x256mb sticks in there. My computer does not support dual channel. Would I have any problems if I bought 2x512 sticks?

Does anyone what the geforce equivalent of my radeon x300 would be? I'm looking for a new video card but I don't want to spend over $100. Whats the best I can get with that budget?

check what ram you have with cpuz.. as theres ddr ddr2 you can put 2x 512 in first 2 slots and use the 2 x256 in the other 2 slots gforce cards you could get 6600 gt 256 ram..the gefore 8 series are direct x compatable..but expensive..if you not planing on installing vista and playing dx 10 games,,then go for the 6 series or 7 series geforce.
