What Microphone?

Can anyone recommend a decent microphone for use with a PC? I want to record some personal messages for my relatives who live in New Zealand, Canada and the US.
I did purchase a small 'Gembird' mike but you literally have to shout in it to be heard.

Win XP Pro
1.5g Ram
200g Hard Drive
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
GeForce 6200

The sound card is a built in (integral) A97 Realtec

Thank you in advance

you could try plantronic headset mics. they use usb 2 and you dont need any drivers, xp detects it. also they use digital signal processing, which makes them crystal clear. if you want a decent crystal clear sound from a mic or headset. you have to pay abit extra but its worth it. http://www.headsets.uk.net/ if you want desktop mic only try labtec they have headset usb mics as well that use dsp. and desktop mics. try and get one with the noise filter. one thing though, dont use windows sound recorder, its basically crap, get a third party app. there are some good free ones around.

Thanks Generator.

I looked at their site and will probably purchase the "Audio DSP-400". It seems to be suitable and the idea of using USB appeals to me.

Have you used Audacity?
