Changing Processor Speeds

Hello Friends,

Right now I have an
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4600+ 2.4 GHz Processor
with Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe nForce 590 SLI motherboard. This system is only 14 months old.

My questions is, can you upgrade the processor to a more powerful one without changing the motherboard?

Thank you,

Morriah

AMD Athlon 64 3800+
AMD Athlon X2 5200+
AMD Athlon 64 FX-62
