New Laptop Advice

Sorry if this is already posted somewhere else here.

Looking for a new laptop. Nothing too elaborate, just to play around with. Internet, slingbox, maybe a game, show pictures, etc. Trying to keep the cost down.

Any advice? Dell? Toshiba? AMD Processor? Best Buy? Micro Center? build your own? etc. Went to Best Buy last night, they were very helpfull.

How is Vista doing these days? Any chance of still getting XP, or should I go with Vista just to keep current?

I heard 2 gig minimum is needed for Vista.

Hi, if you go with Vista get 2 gig of ram and Vista home premium...NOT BASIC!!!!!
Intel are now the leader over AMD and I just bought my first Intel processor after 10 years with AMD. Also I have an Acer lappy and Im really happy with it.

I bought Vista with 2 gig of ram 2 months back, it's working good with me and I am very happy with it.

check out the Dell inspiron 1720, or a dell xps 1710 min you should go for is a Dual core 2,2 gigahertz speed and at least 2 gig ram, and 250 gig hd the xps are gaming laptops, some have a 7200 rpm hd and the have a DVI out port so you can hook up a larger monitor up to 30 inch.
