Want ro transfer memory from Hard Drive to local C drive

I have an 80 GB hard drive on my Acer laptop computer. When I installed XP professional, somehow there were 17 GB allocated to C drive. I want to add (transfer) another 20 GB to the C drive. How can I do this (and without losing data or having to reinstall XP if possible)?

I don't know much about computers, so please answer in simple, clear terms.

Enrique

To resize or combine partitions without destroying existing data requires additional partitioning software, but even then a backup of existing data is recommended before running such software. Windows does not have any built-in utility for re-organising partitions without destroying existing data.

Most well-known commercial software for re-partitioning without data loss is Partition Magic: http://www.symantec.com/norton/partitionmagic

Alternative:

Partition Manager Express (FREE): http://www.paragon-software.com/home/pm-express/
