Arrow Laptop Battery

HI,
my laptop battery has power 9.6v 3800mah.
it has six battery cells inside. each cell is of 1.6volts. i.e 6x1.6v = 9.6v
can i make different battery but same volts.
i mean instead of six cells can i use four cells which have 2.4 volts
i.e 4x2.4 v= 9.6 volts
is this battery works and is not harmfull for my laoptop.

provided you end up with the same current (amps) it would be ok but i really wouldnt mess with it,the battery that came with the lappy was designed to work for that lappy.
