Desire for New Harddrive

I have an ASUS P3V4X JumperFree PC-133 Motherboard and I'm interested in upgrading to a new better harddrive but I really have no clue how to do it or where to start. Can you guys guide me through this? Right now I have two drives, a C and a D. The C drive is 6 gigs, and the D is 13. So alltogether I have less than 20! I simply need more. What I want to do is get rid of the C (but keep all my files and folders and settings and such) and upgrade to a bigger harddrive. I have a boss who's willing to let me use one of her servers to hold my files. Other than that, I don't know where to begin, or what to look for. Something economical would be nice though. Anyways, thank you!

Your drive is partitioned currently. Your Harddrive is 20Gigs and it's been split into 5 and 13. I personally like to keep my primary drive (C:\) at 5 Gigs that's a nice size to run everything and ensure stability. You need a C:\. However if you intend to get a new HD altogether, I would personally suggest leaving C:\ as is.
There are many HardDrives for sale.

If you're looking for a good price, avoid SATA models. These are new so obviously expensive however the normal ATA drives fine.
You can get for example a Maxtor 7200RPM 30 Gig $75 Canadian. A little less in American currency. That would give you 50 Gigs in total. A little less since drives never give you the total amount.

So you could have a computer that looks like this:
C:\ = 5GB D:\ = 13GB E:\ 28GB(roughly) F:\ = CD-ROM
I think there's a way to combine the D partition and the new Hardrive but I don't know that for sure.

That's the way I'd go probably. However you could if you like, format and delete the old partion so you'd combine C and D together looking like this:

C:\ = 18GB D:\ = 28GB E:\ CD-ROM

The first way doesn't require you to do anything except plug in the new Harddrive while the second option will require you to format I think. In which case you'll need to use FDISK to delete the second partition, and combine it back into C:\

I'm not that great in explaining it lol, but I know how to do it. Hopefully someone can explain it better for you, or say how you can combine 2 seperate drives. Anyway I hope this helps you a bit.
