hdd question

i wanna buy a hdd with a 8mb buffer, 7200rpm, 80gb and i don't know what to choose. i'm opend for ideas. will it be western digital or seagate or ibm or maxtor. i want the best one but i don't know how to make my pick. please help

I would suggest you to go with "Maxtor",, I haven't purchase any Wester Digital since the day that 6.4 gig were biggest drive on the market and I must have lost close to 10 6.4 gig W.D drive,, IBM is just as good as Maxtor but I found Maxtor to generat less noise,, Seagate would be at the bottom of my list,, since their support sucks.

The WD really has gotten better. In fact, I'd say the best of the major brands. At least in the IDE line of drives.

go for the cheapest one, i don't care, but i like the name "Western Digital"

All 4 have been good to me, but I personally would go with a seagate or maxtor.

Yeah, the only thing I forgot to mention is the best one is the one with the longest warranty.

I definitely say the Maxtor. I have exactly that (7,200rpm 8MB cache 80GB) and never had any problems. Its very quick also.
