Need help on installing a cd-rw drive to burn cd's

First of all, I have a HP a305w with XP, 40gig hdd, and 758mb ram. Okay, I have a cd-writer in my top bay with nothing in my second bay. I want to install another cd drive so I can burn songs from one cd to another. My question is this, can I get any store brand cd-rom or cd-rw to install and work? I am very new to computers and have no clue. I have a friend who knows a lot who can help me install it. Best Buy has a cd-rw driver right now for $20 after rebates. Would that driver be good for what I want to do or should I go another route? I don't want to spend a whole lot, I just want to be able to burn cd's. One last question, since I have an HP that can write files, do I need Nero or another cd burner program?

well u can just rip a cd onto ur hdd then burn the mp3s as an audio cd using nero
u can use clone cd to make an image on ur hdd of da cd and burn it onto a blank

i dont recommend using inbuilt burning programs such as that that xp has because they are not accurate

otherwise if u have a cd-rw all u need is another cd drive to burn on the fly (direct cd copy) brand names not really required

make sure its a fast cd drive
if ur firend is good y dont u ask him?

Let's just say I'd rather not ask him. I bought a DVD-Rom and figured it out, it was the first time I have ever tore into a PC. Installing it was easy, I would do it again. Thanks again.
