xp printing problems
Please someone help me. I have not been able to print consistently for months. It is the same problem both computers I have owned, both of which I re-installed XP on.
I even have purchased a new printer to eliminate the printer, which it isnt.
The machine is a 3.0ghz, 1gb ram, intel 865 board.
EPSON C63 printer.
When first installed it printed fine, but after a few prints, when a job is sent, it comes back with "failed to print". Sometimes after a while when reset occasionally it will print but seldom. It then wont allow you to cancel the print job in the print manager, and the printer then displays an exclamation mark. I then have to go into print spooler and stop and restart it to clear it.
I have tried multiple re-installs of the drivers, downloaded latest drivers, installed SP1a service pack for upgraded usb support, using new usb cable.
I have tried the printer and previous printer on other persons pc and it works fine. Is there some insideous setting in XP I am missing, it seems to be the same problem or setting i am carrying on to each freshly installed PC.
I have 6 USB ports all are occupied and verified as working normally. The printer is set to USB port (virtual printer port for usb).
When the computer is rebooted the same problem occurs. Its as if the printer's memory is chocked up and wont accept anymore. There is plenty of RAM in the pc. Could it be something to do with USB?. Should I use parallel cable? .
All other USB devices on the machone work fine, the printer is the only one that develops a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
