My dvdrom Matshita sr8585 will only work in P10 mode, does anyone know how to get it to work in dma mode?

The easiest way that I know of is if you have an Intel Chipset download and install the Intel Application Accelerator. It will install it's own drivers and force the drive to use the highest DMA Mode it supports.

not sure if azn is talking about this post, but back to the drive, waresoft is correct about the iaa driver from intel, but if you have a motherboard with a via, sis, ali, or nvidia chipset you would want to use the chipset software for it instead of the iaa. the ribbon cable could make a difference, if you just found a cable from a old system, it may not support ultra dma drives. bios may have a problem detecting the drive, check the updates for your board, see if the bios files list fixes for drive detection or correcting dma speeds...
